WHO WE ARE
AERD - Alliance for Environment and Rural Development is a nature based national nongovernmental and non-profit organization, not affiliated to any political, religious, traditional or cultural groups. The formation and conception of the organization was initiated by Mr. John Sebit BENANSIO to a group of concerned South Sudanese citizens specifically researchers and academician. The group first met in the University of Juba Staff Club for the first time in November 2016.

AERD - Alliance for Environment and Rural Development was strategically established to address the following issues: (a) Poverty alleviation by addressing the gaps in food production caused by the civil war in the country; (b) Sustainable utilization of natural resources through promoting community based natural resources management; (c) support capacity building and skills development of indigenous communities; (d) Advocacy and dissemination of knowledge on conservation to the indigenous communities; (e) Scientific researches on endemic plant and animal species; (f) Habitat protection for the sustainability of indigenous species; (g) Conservation education and community outreach programs in schools and community centres. AERD - Alliance for Environment and Rural Development was officially registered in May 2017/2018 and renewed for 2018/2019 under Certificate Number 819 with Relief and Rehabilitation Commission under Chapter 3, Section 10 of NGOs Act 2016. 2. VISION STATEMENT Alliance for Environment and Rural Development (AERD) vision is to be a leading national organization in supporting sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic prosperity of local communities.

 

MISSION STATEMENT Alliance for Environment and Rural Development (AERD) mission is to build capacity of the local communities to utilize and manage the natural resources sustainably.

CORE VALUES Alliance for Environment and Rural Development (AERD) is committed to implement all its plans, programme activities and its operations shall be guided by the following core values.

Team work AERD believes that team work in all aspects of work is essential, because it encourages individual members to join the team members who are ready to implement programs and activities in the field.

 Integrity AERD believes that impartiality, fairness and honesty while upholding the highest ethical standards in the working place are very important. The organization encourages its target groups/beneficiaries to provide its feedback for better quality of services delivery.

WHAT WE DO

AERD – Alliance for Environment and Rural Development striving to support local communities so as to manage natural resources through participatory approaches for the benefit of the present and future generations. AERD – Alliance for Environment and Rural Development strongly believes that sustainable utilization of natural resources and good environmental management practices are part of the solution to achieve social stability, sustainable livelihoods and development of local communities for self – reliance, socioeconomic prosperity and poverty alleviation. AERD – Alliance for Environment and Rural Development shared specialist expertise in the sector of Environment, Wildlife, Fisheries, Agriculture and Forestry.

WHERE WE WORK

AERD - Alliance for Environment and Rural Development has established its Main Office in Juba, the capital city of South Sudan. The operation of the organization is located within Rejaf County covered Kolye, Logo and Kansuk Village, Mangalla County covered Bujur and Karbu Village, Kondokoro County covered Monoyik, Nyori and Morkuku Village.
